1..2..3...

over at CMK this month, we are getting to work with scenic route papers! yummy!
i was very excited when i opened up my package to find the sonoma collection.
i used this just a few months back on the WIP kit...and it has been my favorite paper to date.
so, i gladly opened my pack and started working with it again!
the papers are so yummy.
seriously.
here's a quick layout i made, almost immediately.

and on another note,
thanks for all your kind words regarding my below post.
i, of course, know i'm so blessed, but sometimes...life is hard.
k, that's all for today :)
peace,
em

hi friends.

over at CMK this past weekend, we had a scrap pink crop, in honor of breast cancer awareness.
each one of the DT members hosted a challenge...mine was to scrap a layout that involved superficial things that make you happy.
not things like your family, kids, spouses...but, small things like, gilmore girls, flip-flops, the twilight books.
i love my family, but they don't always make me happy...and it's the smaller things, like getting a good email that make me smile that day.
it's very superficial. yes.
but so true.
so, i challenged people to scrap that small stuff.
and the only stipulation was that you had to include all the fun stuff you love to scrap with on your page as well...
i included masking tape, color, chipboard, thickers, sewing...and so on.
i love how it turned out.
it's so colorful and pretty :)
in other news...
i'm quite obsessed with coldplay right now.
like, i want to be married to the music.
is that possible?
i've got my i-tunes playing right now...and when i'm not on the computer, i've got the i-pod blaring away with a rush of blood to the head.
give me more coldplay.
i'm chanting that.
and you know you're listening to it a lot when your 4 year old sings along with you :)
aight.
i'm out.

9/5/08

can't chat for long...

but i did want to pop in and say hello :)
we made it to kansas.
safe and sound.
i forgot i had some layouts on my computer that i haven't posted yet, so i may be posting more than i thought!
i know, you're so excited.
well, here's one.

and a picture of the kids (minus milo) and i at old settlers (a festival, here in olathe).
just wanted to show you all that i'm a blondie again!

hope you're doing well!
pEacE.

girly girl and a toot.

i used my WIP kit on this one...i stuck the photo on card stock...adhered the PP over it and then ripped the paper off, over the photo, so it looks like the photo is peeking through.
i'm pleased with how it turned out!

i think you can click on it to make it larger and to read the journaling!
annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd....
i'm being published!
woot woot!
i got an email today from scrapbook trends, and they are publishing a double page layout of mine in their baby idea book!
yah!
hope ya'll had a fabulous labor day weekend...back to the daily grind tomorrow.
g'night.

a double pager.

hey hey friends.
a quick 2 pager for you...
(you can click on the picture to enlarge it).
i used a becky higgins sketch for this one...i'm normally not a huge fan of those sketches, cause they seem so plain to me, but i was able to add embellishments, where a photo would be, so i think that spruced it up a bit.

this was a fun night...me, keith, allyson and matt all went to the so you think you can dance tour last year!
holy moley.
it was so fun!
this was us being super goofy before the show.
i love these pictures.
anyways, we are still here and kicking...fay, is still here too. we have had non stop rain for 2 1/2 days...and last night starting at about 1:00, the rain just came down so hard...and it didn't stop until this morning, about 30 minutes ago.
seriously.
i thought we were going to be blown or washed away.
some places have it so bad though...one place to the east of us has gotten at least 25 inches of rain!
can you believe that?
they are flooded big time, and the worst part...the snakes, alligators and wildlife are all coming up into the flood waters.
gross.
hopefully the rain stops soon!

8/18/08

when i'm bored...

...i scrapbook.
if i'm lucky and the kids are taken care of :)
here's a few pages i did in the past couple of days...
lots of goodies from happy mail.

dang.
i wish i knew how to take better photos of my layouts.
actually, i feel like i can take decent photos of my layouts...it's just the color that never turns out right.
blah.
any suggestions?
well, gotta run...
we're getting ready for fay to grace us with her presence.
later friends!

no title.

the prompt this week at the art is found is to use your old sewing patterns...i had a couple ideas floating around in my head, when i heard this prompt, but this is the one i ended up going with.
i cut out the 4 model women and stuck them on my page...i love how it turned out.
and okay, i totally got the idea from someone (and i can't for the life of me, remember who...if it's you, tell me so i can give you the proper credit!!) edited--it was the fabulous miss mandi who's page i saw! she so did not want the credit, but i'm giving it to her anyways! thanks girl!...anyways, what i saw was someone who cut their subjects out and then painted a background, like i did...i stored that in my brain for a while, just waiting to use it...and now i can't remember where i got it from...buehler, buehler?

anywho...go and run over to the art is found and play along!
peace,
em

8/11/08

good reads.

for the art is found, the prompt was to use a photo for your title...it could be a real photo, or a magazine photo...i opted for the magazine route.
i had this picture in my "inspo" folder, and i thought it would be perfect for this prompt.
just a little layout about my favorite books this summer.
the twilight series.
all those other goodies are fun stuff that i've been getting for happy mail.
seriously...happy mail is so fun!
and some people have asked about my blog and how i did it on scrapblog...if you have specific questions, you can email me at emilymaeanderson(at)gmail(dot)com.
i don't know where to begin, when explaining all that, so if you are stuck on something over there, then email me and i can try to help you out!
have a good monday.
blah.
those words just don't seem like they go together (good, monday).

8/4/08

challenge.

over at CMK, i'm hosting the "monday muse" challenge.
my challenge to you is to make a layout using a magazine photo.
i'm often inspired by pictures i see in my favorite catalogs or magazines...most of the time, i rip the pages out and stick them in a folder, in hopes of scrapping them.
if you haven't ever scrapped a magazine photo, i encourage you to do it...for me, it's a good release of emotions (as most of the pictures that i'm attracted to bring on memories, feelings and emotions)...and plus...magazine photos are flippin' brilliant (most of the time!)

this layout i used a pic from the anthro catalog.
this picture...seriously.
it's so cute.
and so on my list of things to do in my life (road trip with my family, to the SW states).
so, yah, anywho...
hope that inspires you.
link up your work so i can see it!
have a great monday.

sun bathing beauty.

well since CHA is over (the craft and hobby association) i figured it's safe to post some of my work that was displayed in the prism booth this weekend!
here is a layout i did for them...this was one of my first layouts i did, using prism card stock...and i've been hooked ever since!

the supplies are all prism card stock and american crafts thickers!
thanks for stopping by today...it's a quick post for me...gotta run!

7/15/08

today.

yup.
i'm not ashamed to announce that today i turn 27.
weird...really weird.
10 years ago, this is not where i thought i would be.
27, married for 5 years, 3 kids, living in florida, and obsessively scrapbooking!
crazy!
but, i love where life has taken me, and i couldn't imagine it any other way...i don't even remember what it was like to not have this life!
so, yah, here's my picture, for you all.

and just so it's not all about me ;)
here is a layout i made for CMK...i used the daisy d's product this month...their chloe line...here was a LO i made with it!
all product is daisy d's (except my masking tape and pom pom ribbon!)

i hope y'all are having a great tuesday!
peace,
em
and oh...if you want to see just how funny and sweet my hubs is, take a look here!

7/14/08

i'm bringing 2 pagers back.

(the title is said in my best justin timberlake voice)
it's been a while since i've done a 2 pager!
i loved these progression photos of milo standing on his own for the first time...and then trying to take a first step...but crashing instead!
you can click on the picture, to make it bigger and read the commentary.
i got that lovely sassafras lass paper from winning a layout challenge over at SIStv...fun!
supplies:
card stock-prism
pp-sassafras lass
alphabet stickers-american crafts and SEI
random-punches, thread, button and ribbon
ahhhhh, friends.
i love you all!
hope you're having a great day...
i'm completely involved in the twilight book right now.
i.can't.get.enough.
loooooooooooooove it.
peace,
em

7/8/08

more exciting news!

as if things weren't exciting for me already...
i was so honored to find out this weekend that i made the official Work In Progress design team, for the next 6 months!
yes, i was just the guest designer...and i decided last month, to apply for the full design team because i loved the kit i got to work with, and trish (the owner) is such a sweetheart.
i'm so glad i did, and i look really forward to working with this team (full of FABULOUS designers, i might add)!
i'm just thrilled!!
okay, okay...
here's some eye candy for you :)

i used my circle journaling technique again (where the title circle swings around and reveals the journaling).
so fun...
here are the details:
cardstock - prism (white prismatic, chocolate, intense kiwi)
brads, paint-making memories
ghost tabs-heidi swapp
letters-american crafts
everything else is just randoms that i had lying around!
thanks for stopping by friends!
hope you're having a great day :)

7/6/08

a layout and a weeeee-ner.

wow! i didn't realize i had that many people reading my blog. nothing like a good ol' giveaway to pull some of you readers out of the wood works. thanks for commenting. now that i know you're there, you need to talk to me a little more often! so, first up is my layout.
i did this for the scrapjacked blog.
they jacked the ever so fabulous candimandi...she is my fave.
for sure.
so, here's my take...
okay, okay.
i know none of you cared about all of that...you just want to know the winner.
well, without further ado....
i had the help of my most favorite little man ever with picking this winner.
here's how our conversation went.
ME: caedmon, what is your most favorite number ever?
CAEDMON: ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. 20.
ME: really? that's your most favorite number ever?
CAEDMON: ummmmmmmmmmmmm. yup.
ME: okay, thanks dude.
so, the weeeeeeeeeee-ner is...#20, which is:
sarah said...
Yay for free scrappy stuff! Maybe your creative juices will have oozed over it all during the clean up and come with all your goodies!
July 3, 2008 6:15 PM
congrats sarah! i can't guarantee any "oozieness". but i can guarantee a box o' goodies to arrive on your doorstep soon!
email me your address at
emilymaeanderson(at)hotmail(dot)com.
thanks to everyone who left a comment!
hope you all had a great weekend!
did you get any scrapping done on this long weekend? link me up...i'd like to see it!
good night!

6/30/08

i did it.

oh.my.gosh.
do you know what i did?
if you took a gander and guessed that i won the last scrapper standing challenge over at CMK, you guessed correctly!
holy cow.
can you believe that?
do you know what that means?
it means, i am on their design team for the next 6 months!
i'm still in awe.
here is my layout for the final entry...

the circle swings up and reveals the journaling underneath it.

okay, so yah.
i'm still in shock.
it just feels crazy to have won something with my scrapbooking.
i mean, i started scrapbooking to document my families "stuff."
and it's turned into so much more than that for me...and personally i am so proud of what it's turned into.
i look forward to my moments when i can just sit down and let my creative mind loose on something THAT also is preserving my family's memories.
it's such a great feeling.
anyways...tangent.
i am super excited to be working with the team.
they actually picked 3 new girls, so i know there are a few other ladies out there feeling this same excitement!
gosh.darn.
i'm just happy :)

6/26/08

work in progress kit.

here are a few more projects i made using the WIP july kit.
just a fabulous kit, i might add :)
here is a wedding card i made...keith and his co-workers needed a card for a girl at their work...and i thought these papers were really classy...

and another layout using all the fabulous goodies (plus some prism card stock!)
last time i was with my sister, i took some fabulous pictures of her...here is one...and i used more on my final layout for the CMK contest. she's just beautiful.
anyways, i'm gonna run...not much to say...except that so you think you can dance is on.
if you want to know my opinion on whom i love...click here.
have a fabulous night!
thanks for stopping by!

6/20/08

inspired.

over at taif this week, the prompt is using magazines.
i saw this picture in the anthropologie catalog a while back (yes, i get the catalog. no, i don't ever spend money there---i can't stomach spending $50++ dollars on a shirt--neither can my husband...)
aaaaannnnyyyyways.
so, i loved this picture.
this girl.
just walking and reading.
i mean, i know it's fake, but it just reminded me how much i need to get caught up in a book.
one of those "i can't put this book down, so i'm gonna walk around and read it" kind of books.
yah.
those are good books.
so, i pulled out my WIP kit (cause ya know, i am the guest designer for july over there!!)
sorry--tooting my horn.
anyways, the kit is awesome.
and this has to be one of my favorite layouts i've done in a while.

and...i found out it made layout of the day over at SIS!
woot and a toot--again!
so, yah, i'm gonna hang this one up in my scrap area...cause i love to look at it...and it reminds me i need to find a good book to read.
any suggestions?
i want a good story...not "how to be a better mom/wife/christian/woman."
a good, get lost in the story, kind of story.
all right friends...
we'll chat soon.
and oh yah!
i almost forgot...
christine asked me if i actually sew on my layouts...and the answer is yes!
i just recently learned how to do it...and it took a lot of tweaking of the sewing machine (cause yah, at first, i was totally ripping the paper).
practice on some card stock first, and get the settings just right before you actually sew onto your layout.
but still, i've messed up many a times, and i always like how it turns out.
i like messy though.
hope that helps christine! (and anyone else who may have been wondering!)

6/17/08

round 2.

i found out over at CMK that i made it to round 2 of last scrapper standing!
here's my layout that got me there.
the journaling is hidden in that altered envelope...

i really LOVE this layout...and of course, it looks sooo much better in person.
don't they always?
anyways, to top things off...yesterday, i got my WIP kit in the mail! woot!
so, i definitely got to make some goods during nap time yesterday...
and...i won over at OLW!
my "make life fun" layout was picked by Gigi...so excited!
and i got more happy mail!
yah, it was a good day.
all right friends...thanks for always leaving such kind words over here...they are ALWAYS appreciated!
you all rock!
have a great day :)
