some scrapping

during nap time yesterday, i was able to sit down and scrap a little bit...i completed 2 pages for milo's book...one of them i can't show until after sunday, because it will be on valerie salmon's 'gotsketch' blog...she emailed and asked if i would complete a layout for one of her sketches! how exciting! so, anyways, i love how the one for her blog turned out, so i am very excited to show you on sunday! this page is milo's birth announcement...i had so many of those 2 x 2 pictures left, so i knew i wanted to incorporate it into the scrapbook page somehow...i love how it turned out...all those pictures of milo are so precious!
well, i am home with a sick girl today...as we were all bundled up and ready to head to school this morning, hadley decided to throw up...yuck! if it were anybody else's throw up, i probably would have done the same, but amazingly, i can handle my kids throw up...thank goodness! so, caedmon is at school, but hadley stayed home...they were going to have her birthday celebration today too! hopefully they re-do it :) well, i'm feeling much better today...compared to yesterday...it was just a long day, with a naughty 3 year old...can you moms relate?? by lunchtime, caedmon was in his room for the rest of the day...i just told him 'i'm done dealing with this, so you have to stay in your room'...and he did...he came out for dinner, but then after that went right upstairs, got his jammies on and went to bed. he knew the bad choices he made, and i think he felt bad about them...he realized mama wasn't joking about staying in his room. one part of my plan did backfire though...i told him that he had to stay there until his daddy came home...and then daddy was going to have to give him a spanking...well, then keith was late from work...and then went straight to youth group...so, he didn't even get home until about 9:00...caedmon kept asking "when's daddy coming home"...finally i had to say "okay, you're not going to get a spanking cause daddy won't be home until you are in bed"...so, he managed to get out of that...but i think having him stay in his room all day was punishment enough for his bad choices...so, oh well!
well, i've got a hungry baby to feed, so i must go! have a great day :)

creation, pumpkin party & pictures

good morning! i am doing a workshop next week for a group of teachers...one of them arranges it, holds it at her school, and invites all her teacher buddies to come and hang out and make some fun goodies! here is one of the projects we will be doing...she wanted me to keep them fairly simple, so i thought this one was perfect. it's a giftcard holder box...and i just used one of the flower petals from 'pick a petal' (is that the right name??) and cut them out and pieced them on this box...it's so much cuter in real life (isn't it always?). the saying is from my 'so many sayings'...that i cut apart and mounted on jenga blocks. so, anyways, this is project #1...i'll show you the rest this week!
so, the pumpkin party was a success! hadley and her little friends had fun painting pumpkins, eating pizza, playing with her new toys and of course, eating cupcakes and cookies! here is a pic of the yummy cupcakes...and the pumpkins they got to decorate (i had leftover decorative pumpkins, so they just painted those!)

and of course, caedmon had to have a friend over too...her is one of his best buddies, brookie! it's been a while since they've gotten to play with each other, so they, of course had a blast hanging out and being silly together!

hadley painting the pumpkin...look at that concentration! i couldn't get hadley to be done with the painting...all the other kiddos were done in like 5 or 10 minutes, but she would have sat there all day long painting...yeah! mommy's so proud of her...she's my aspiring art major...takes after her mama!

and, one more thing...the fabulous allyson took AMAZING family photos of us sunday night...the night itself was stressful with a capital "S", but i was so pleased with the sneak peak allyson put on her blog...i can't wait to see the rest of them!! check them out here! i just love that allyson can take pictures of us, and i don't even have to tell her how i want them...she just knows...and i'm always pleased with what she does...we think the same way when it comes to the style of photography that we like...so, i love to have her take our pics!
have a great day...and thanks for stopping by...oh yah, check back soon, as i'm going to have some blog candy up for grabs, cause i've just posted my 100th post! and i've surpassed 5,000 hits! WOW! thanks all!

so many sayings

this is for all of my stampin' up! peeps out there...so, i have had the "so many sayings" hostess set just sitting around forever, unmounted. i couldn't handle the fact that all those great sayings were all stuck together...there are about 30 sayings, and only 3 blocks. su! wants you to marker the saying you want and stamp it that way...no way, not for me...too hard. so, i read this BRILLIANT idea on another blog (forgive me, i can't remember who!)...she bought a cheap jenga set (i bought the knock off version which was only $3.99)...i then proceeded to cut apart all my sayings, and i mounted them on the different jenga blocks...do you all remember jenga? the crazy balance game? anyways, this idea was amazing, and now i have all of the sayings mounted on different blocks, so i can ACTUALLY use them! nice, huh?? here are a few pictures for all my visual learners out there! have a great night!
step 1: buy the jenga

step 2: cut the rubba

step 3: mount them on the jenga blocks...and voila!

now, i just have to find a place to store them........

name frame

hi all! here is a name frame that i made for a lady that i met at the open house! her daughter's room is princess theme, so she wanted that to carry over into the name frame...i hope she likes it! i think it turned out cute....anyways, i'm so stoked because allyson is taking family pictures of us tonight! we are going into the downtown district...there are tons of old doors, brick buildings...all that cool, vintage stuff...and we are going to take some shots down there. i'm stoked!!! i will post some as soon as i get them (i hate waiting!!!!!!!!)...allyson knows that, and i'm probably one of her most impatient friends :) i'm always like "are they done yet....are they done yet??" sorry allyson for my impatience :)
have a great day...later friends!

trick or treat!

well, like every other blogger out there who has kids, i too, will post pictures of what my kiddos dressed up as last night...enjoy :) caedmon and milo were pumpkins and hadley was a ku cheerleader...in honor of the ku jayhawks football team doing AMAZING right now! we had a busy day yesterday and went to my mom's work so she could see the kiddos...the 3rd picture is of caedmon pushing hadley on a cart around my mom's office...i'm sure everyone there was glad to see my crazy kids leave!
then last night for trick-or-treating, we went over to my dad's house...had pizza...then took caedmon and hadley trick-or-treating around their neighborhood. hadley was so funny! when anybody would open their door, she would walk right in, like they were inviting her over! and she didn't like anybody to pick out the candy for her...she wanted to pick it out herself and put it in her basket herself too. she's a hoot. caedmon was a little nervous to trick-or-treat...he saw the big kids dressed up as scary things, and he was a little bit afraid...how do you explain to a 3 year old about the scary things on halloween? yah...i don't know. but all in all, it was another fun year of trick-or-treating! i'm so glad to have kids to take out trick or treating, cause then i get like months of candy to eat! ha!
have a great day :)

quick page...

this page looks pretty boring right now, but once it is in milo's book, and sitting along with it's lay-out friend, it will look a lot better! i didn't post the other page with it, cause it has some pics of milo being born, and i figured you all didn't want to see that (especially you dad!). anyways, this brilliant idea came from allyson. the journaling pages will be milo's birth story, but there are actually 2 pages, and i bradded the top of them, so you will flip up the one, to reveal the other one, with the rest of his story on it (when i actually sit down and write it!). i LOVE this idea, cause you can fit the whole story, but it doesn't have to take up the whole page! i still had room for a pretty title on it :) all right, well i need to head up to bed! just wanted to post that real quick! thanks for looking :)

bday invite and recipe

well, i finally got hadley bean's invites done for her pumpkin party (the party is on monday, so it's about time!) it's really low-key and we are only inviting 3 of her little best friends over. we will be decorating those mini pumpkins and eating yummy pizza...very easy! hopefully it's still nice outside, so we can be in the backyard as well!
here is a pic of those delicious chocolate chip pumpkin cookies i made yesterday...i got lots of people asking if they could have the recipe so here it is:
2 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
15 oz. can pumpkin
4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
16 oz. chocolate chips
cream butter and sugar...add pumpkin...stir together flour, baking soda and cinnamon and add to other mixture. stir in chocolate chips. drop heaping spoonfuls onto baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes at 350*.
my cookies have white chocolate chips in them as well...and i ended up baking them on my pizza stone for 13 minutes...they turn out really mushy and gooey...so, just watch them, and when the peaks on them start browning, then they are usually done! and i am warning you now, that you can't eat just one!! they are too good! thanks to allison for this yummy recipe...she brought it to mops last meeting!
i gotta run...the kids are trick or treating at my mom's work today, so i've got to get them ready to go...i will take lots of pictures!
and by the way...thanks for all of the kind words you all left on my blog! the comments make my day :) thank you!
